J/24 Racing Program, 2011 Campaign
The 2011 Lunenburg Boatworks Racing Team had another very successful season. This season brought on a challenging schedule, including the J24 North American Championships in Halifax, where the team finished 7th in the mix with many World-class competitors. Other highlights include two wins at local regattas, and hosting a very successful Lunenburg Boatworks/Quantum Maritimes training clinic at LYC. This years accomplishments can be contributed to many days of on the water training and speed testing aimed at making the boat faster on all areas of the race course. Further plans for the year include the Changing of the Colors regatta in Lake George, NY. The 2012 J24 World Championships are scheduled for September 2012, also in New York.
J/24 Racing Program, 2010 Campaign
The Lunenburg Boatworks Racing Team had another stellar year in 2010 going undefeated in all 5 events including the National Championship. Now in our second year racing the J/24, we are starting to figure out some of the quirks in getting this design up to full speed. The core team members remained the same from last year which really helped solidify our crew work. We were fortunate to have the Nationals in Halifax this year and look forward to having the North Americans in our district for 2011. The fleet is growing steadily and more boats have been added for next season.
J/24 Racing Program, 2009 Campaign
We are very proud of our Lunenburg Boatworks Racing Team. 2009 was the first season campaigning in the J/24 Class and the results showed our efforts in teamwork and boat preparation. Our team won all 5 Atlantic Canadian regattas we entered and finished 3rd at the Nationals in Hudson, Quebec. The 5-person crew isn't the same at every event as we are still sorting out the best fit for everyone's skill sets. Core team members include John Whynacht, Adam Roy, Georg Ernst, Andrew Lacas and Ryan Himmelman. Support team and alternates included John Franklin, Graham Eisenhauer, Grant Woodman, Will Flower and Dewar MacDougall.
